Zakeke ‑ Customizer 2D & 3D

“Unlimited” plans... Retrospectively subject to storage limits and extra charges...

We chose Zakeke’s “Unlimited” plan when we signed up years ago on the understanding that storage would be unlimited. We invested considerable time and money developing our platform around their 3D configurator.

In August 2025, Zakeke announced storage restrictions and introduced new plans, charging additional storage fees. Our account, still in development, had already about 75gb of usage. Zakeke, without consultation, limited it to 5 GB even though the subscription continued (to this day) to be labelled as “Shopify UNLIMITED”.

We disputed these restrictions as they do not reflect the agreement we originally entered into. And after a number of lengthy emails back and forth and months of being charged for over usage, Zakeke has made us an offer as "a gesture of goodwill" and we have now 50GB included in our plan.

From our perspective, the commercial arrangement has changed after we invested in the platform, leaving us under pressure to pay more or constrain our project while the plan still carries the “Unlimited” name.
Our dispute over the original entitlement and previous charges remains unresolved.

Storage transparency is another concern. The dashboard provides an overall usage figure and some deletion controls, but we still lack the detailed asset breakdown needed to understand and effectively manage the storage being charged.

For a business building a substantial product catalogue, predictable costs and clear terms matter. Based on our experience, we would advise merchants to think carefully before investing significant time and money, as Zakeke seem to be comfortable in changing their terms of business then enforcing them unto their existing customers retrospectively.
In other words, they will make you an offer you can't refuse...

Nice App - a few things that really stood out to us about Zakeke:

- Directly tied to the order: The finished design is linked straight to the Shopify order — no manual back-and-forth sending files around.
- Huge time savings on setup: Without Zakeke, we would have had to build the entire designer ourselves. This let us launch extremely fast, with far less development effort.
- Multi-language support: Since we need the designer in both German and English, it was great that translation just worked out of the box.
