CartBot app allows you to automatically add specific products or gifts to the customers' cart when they buy other specific products. For a Free App what else could you ask for? Prompts the customers for the item and even allows them to reject it which happens from time to time. Able to customize a little bit on the free version but the only caveat is you are going to need a checkout validator to make sure customers do not brute force gifts.
